MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team ranks No. 17 in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire College Rankings.
The Mountaineers’ (8-2-2, 1-0-1) position has not changed for three weeks.
Three Big 12 teams are ranked in this week’s poll, with Kansas (13-1, 3-0) sitting at No. 11 and Texas Tech (10-2-1, 0-2-1) at No. 15.
Reigning National Champion UCLA (10-0-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) continues to rank No. 1. Florida State (11-1, 4-0 ACC) and Stanford (10-0-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) follow at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Virginia (11-1, 3-1 ACC) ranks No. 4, and Florida (10-2, 5-0 SEC) is No. 5.
Soccer America also released its poll today, and the Mountaineers hold steady at No. 24 for the second straight week. WVU checked in at No. 14 in yesterday’s TopDrawerSoccer.com Division I Women’s Top 25 Poll. The squad also ranks No. 14 in this week’s NCAA RPI, the highest position of any Big 12 team.
After a week away from action, the Mountaineers open their home conference slate against the Red Raiders on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. It is a “Dollar Night,” and all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas are available for $1 each. Additionally, the first 100 fans will receive a WVU women’s soccer scarf, and the first 100 Mountaineer Maniacs will receive a Maniac scarf.
