MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Through its partnership with the West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and IMG College, ROOT SPORTS Pittsburgh will broadcast the October 26 women’s soccer match between No. 13 West Virginia University and Oklahoma at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The match, set for a 1 p.m. kick, is the Mountaineers’ (9-2-2, 2-0-1) annual Pink Game, and all fans are asked to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness month. The Mountaineers will make a check presentation at halftime to Morgantown’s Betty Puskar Breast Care Center. Additionally, all tickets for the game will be $1, courtesy of WVU Healthcare.
“We’re excited that our match against Oklahoma will air on ROOT Sports Pittsburgh,” said Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “We appreciate every opportunity to showcase our program on television, and this match will be extra special, as it’s our Pink Game. We can’t wait to see Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium covered in a sea of pink as we continue to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.”
The match will be the team’s fourth broadcast match this season.
The Mountaineers clinched their second straight Big 12 Conference regular-season crown with a 2-1 double-overtime win at Oklahoma on Oct. 26, 2013. WVU’s win was a comeback effort, as the squad scored the game-tying goal in the 80th minute. Senior forward Kate Schwindel netted the game-winner in the 102nd minute. WVU is 2-0 all-time against the Sooners.
WVU closes out the road portion of its Big 12 season this weekend with matches at Iowa State on Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. ET, and at No. 9 Kansas on Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. ET.
