MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team maintains its No. 3 ranking in this week’s Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
The Mountaineers (7-0, 5-0 GARC) have owned the No. 3 ranking in the last six straight polls.
Kentucky and Alaska-Fairbanks are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, for the second straight week. Jacksonville State is steady at No. 4, while Army moves up two spots to No. 5.
TCU and Ohio State are tied at No. 6, and Nebraska is down three spots to No. 8. Air Force and Murray State round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers opened their spring season with a strong showing, defeating NC State, 4707-4604, at the WVU Rifle Range on Jan. 19. WVU’s score was a season best and the first time the Mountaineers pushed past the 4700 threshold this year.
WVU takes to the road this weekend. The Mountaineers will shoot at the Winthrow Invitational in Murray, Ky., on Jan. 24, and at No. 11 Memphis on Jan. 25.
