WVU Plays to a Draw at Villanova

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Villanova on Friday evening in its final exhibition game.
The Mountaineers held the possession throughout the match and outshot the Wildcats 24-3. Junior forward Andy Bevin led all players with six shots, including three shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Lee Johnston posted his second shutout of the preseason, making two saves in the effort.
WVU’s best chance came in the 54th minute as three different Mountaineers took shots on goal consecutively. Villanova goalkeeper Michael Barr came up big, making two of his eight saves on the chances.
The Mountaineers open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Central Connecticut State. The game at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
