Volleyball Starts Spring Season at Duke

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team started the spring season with a strong showing at Duke.
The Mountaineers bounced back from a loss to Wingate to start the day by splitting the remaining matches with host Duke, Wake Forest and UNC-Greensborough.
"Spring tournaments in college volleyball can be pretty sporadic in play sometimes. Teams are working on new line-ups, playing with a shortage of players many times and using substitutes in ways they would not typically be allowed,” coach Jill Kramer says.
“Our main focuses today were to do a better job coordinating our blocking and floor defense, and improve upon the consistency of our offensive tempo. In spring events I am much more concerned about how we are playing the game and improving in our skills and systems than in the outcome of the match. All in all, this was a very productive day in the gym for us - a lot of contacts for our players and opportunities to improve each set as a team."
WVU travels to Charleston, S.C., for spring break training at the College of Charleston before competing against Coastal Carolina on Thursday.
