MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – This season, the No. 16-ranked West Virginia University gymnastics team will lift the veil and give Mountaineer fans a closer look in The Extra Tenth. Each Monday, a different gymnast will be featured.
The 11th edition features junior Makenzie Bristol. One of the team’s stronger floor workers, the Prosper, Texas, native made her 2013 season debut on Feb. 17. She went on to score 9.825 on Feb. 24, helping the Mountaineers tally a season-high 49.325 on floor and push their way to a season-best 196.55 showing. As she continues to earn her spot in the floor lineup, Bristol also is making strides on beam in Cary Gym and could see time as a two-event specialist before her Mountaineer career is complete.
