The Extra Tenth: Bethany Yurko

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – This season, the West Virginia University gymnastics team will lift the veil and give Mountaineer fans a closer look in The Extra Tenth. Each Monday, a different gymnast will be featured.
The ninth edition features junior Bethany Yurko. The Cumberland, Md., native has quietly developed into a crucial cog for the Mountaineers’ vault and bars lineups, as she is known to step up and key situations and hit for the team. In fact, she just finished sixth on vault in the team’s victory over Iowa State on Feb. 10 with a career-best 9.775 score; that appearance was her first of the season on vault. Additionally, she made her career bars debut on Jan. 25 at NC State and scored 9.675. She is expected to push for competition time in both lineups as the year progresses.
