MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University swimming and diving teams will host their Gold-Blue intrasquad meet on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m., at the WVU Natatorium.
"This is one of my favorite weekends of the season. We start off by honoring our accomplishments from last season at our Team Banquet on Friday and conclude with the Gold-Blue meet,” coach Vic Riggs says. “It is also parent's weekend, which is a good time for the families to reconnect.
“Each new season we start with a different group of individuals learning how to be a team and this weekend is a good reminder we are a team first. It's always fun to see the interaction between the teams and the lineups each team comes up with.”
This will be the first competition of the season for the Mountaineers, who are eagerly awaiting next week’s meet, when they host the West Virginia State Games on October 11-12.
“The past couple of years this intrasquad meet has been extremely close and I anticipate the same this year,” says Riggs. “I am looking forward to seeing everybody and the teams get their first taste of competing for the upcoming season."
