Baseball: Polonius Signs Professional Contract

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Former West Virginia University baseball player John Polonius has officially signed a Major League Baseball contract to play in the San Francisco Giants organization.
A native of Willemstad, Curacao, Polonius played shortstop for the Mountaineers during the 2012 season after attending Genesee Community College for the previous two seasons.
Polonius batted .306 in 41 games last season with 18 runs, nine doubles, two home runs and 21 RBIs. A talented defensive player, Polonius committed just six errors in 170 chances.
