MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Mid-distance runner Aubrey Moskal and thrower Heather Adams performed well for the West Virginia track and field team Friday evening to open the 2012 ECAC Championships in Princeton, NJ.
Moskal competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 12th-place finish in 10:53.47. Cornell’s Genna Hartung and Rachel Sorna posted the top finishes in the event with Hartung placing first in 10:18.40 and Sorna close behind in 10:29.47.
In the discus throw, Adams earned a distance of 41.44 meters for the event to place 30th in the field. Duke’s Erica Brand placed first with a distance of 51.41 meters, while Kelsey Huckins of Boston College came in second at 48.51 meters.
“Both were out there doing everything they could to qualify for nationals,” says WVU coach Sean Cleary. “Now we wait to find out the qualifiers.”
Action continues Saturday for the Mountaineers as senior Meghan Mock will compete in the long jump at noon while Terina Miller and Adams will compete in the hammer throw slated for an approximate 3 p.m. start.
Sydney Cummings and Stormy Nesbit will compete on Sunday for the Mountaineers.
