Spain: Day 8

BARCELONA, Spain – Saturday morning the team took a bus out of town to view the Montserrat, located just north of Barcelona. The Monsterrat mountains is the namesake for the Caribbean island of Montserrat and is known for its jagged mountain landscape.
The team rode the railway line up the mountain, a little more than 3,500 feet, in only 11 minutes. There were plenty of hiking and climbing spots, but we opted for a little sightseeing of the monastery (Santa Maria de Montserrat), shops and breathtaking views.
The basilica is most famous for housing a Black Madonna. It’s a statue of Mary in which she is depicted with dark skin, mostly created in Europe in the medieval period or earlier.
The rest of the day is free for the ladies to hit the pool or find some last-minute bargains in the shops around town.
The team will travel tomorrow back to the United States in the morning.
