Visiting Bernabeu

Junior midfielder Caroline Szwed, the team’s biggest Real Madrid fan, writes today’s entry.
MADRID – The whole team was excited to check out Bernabeu Stadium today because of how big Real Madrid is. It’s a club that is known world-wide.
We pulled up to the stadium and you could immediately see how impressive the tour was going to be. It holds 85,000 people and there are plans for an additional 10,000 seats.
The tour was great. We started out by going through the club’s museum. The club has won over 10,000 trophies and several were on display, including the very first one.
Another neat display was a case with each player’s cleats. It showed what shoes each player wore and there were hardly any duplicates. Adidas treats them well.
While I am a huge Real Madrid fan, my dad is a Barcelona fan. But he loves and appreciates the game of soccer so much. He would have loved the tour today. We had access to the player’s bench, the visiting locker room and more.
What surprised me the most might be the team benches. I see them on TV when watching games, but they are so comfortable. It’s like a leather recliner or nice car seat. They are well taken care of on the sidelines.
While I didn’t get to see my favorite player, Cristiano Ronaldo, two teammates did get their pictures taken with him. Okay, they had their arms around him with some photoshop help. But it looks very real. I wish I would have done that on the tour.
I’m so happy to be here and I will definitely try to come back some day. Checking out Real Madrid’s stadium has topped it all off for me thus far.
