MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American teams for its work in the classroom last fall.
The WVU men posted a GPA of 3.08, one of eight BIG EAST teams, while the women finished the semester with a 3.19 GPA. The women were one of 10 BIG EAST squads honored.
“I’m very proud of both teams for their efforts in the classroom and in the pool,” coach Vic Riggs says. “We have made this a priority in the program and to have the women earn this for the eighth-consecutive year and the men for the second, it shows the team’s commitment to the classroom.”
The award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall and spring semester.
The diving team will be back in action at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships from March 9-11 in Buffalo, N.Y. The NCAA Championships begin with the women from March 15-17 in Auburn, Ala., while the men’s will be held from March 22-24 in Federal Way, Wash.
