Mountaineers Crack Top 25

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team cracked the top 25 in the Associated Press poll this week after recording three consecutive wins.
At No. 25, the Mountaineers captured a 54-47 road victory over Virginia on Dec. 2 and followed it by going 2-0 last week with a 64-48 win over Marshall on Tuesday and a 67-47 defeat of St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
WVU was preseason ranked No. 17 in the AP poll, reaching as high as No. 12 in week three. Last week, the Mountaineers dropped to receiving votes. This week’s No. 25 ranking is the second time this season WVU has been ranked No. 25 since it was also in that position in week four.
The Mountaineers will play host to Youngstown State on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. in the WVU Coliseum.
