Men's Soccer: WVU Travels for Non-Conference Tilt

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 25 West Virginia men’s soccer team will travel to James Madison for its final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the JMU Soccer Complex. The match will start at 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers (4-3-1) are coming off a 2-1 BIG EAST loss to USF last Sunday at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The nationally televised match saw the squad’s 13 game winning streak at home, the nation’s longest, snapped as well.
Freshman forward Andy Bevin continues to lead WVU offensively with five goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Shadow Sebele has now scored in three consecutive games. Sebele scored in the eighth minute against USF, while Bevin earned the assist.
In goal, redshirt junior Justin Holmes is 2-1-1 with a 0.95 goals-against average (GAA) in four starts, making 16 saves.
JMU (4-1-1) is 4-0-0 at home this season after 3-0 shutout of Towson last Sunday.
Offensively the squad is led by Patrick Innes who has four goals and two assists for 10 points, while Adam Bastidas, Paul Wyatt and Boyd Reid have each scored two goals. Dale Robins-Bailey leads the team with three assists.
Justin Epperson has started all six games in net for the Dukes and has made 17 saves, while allowing eight goals for a 1.29 GAA.
Tom Martin is in his 26th year at the helm of JMU and has a 444-170-59 career record, making him the second-winningest active coach in NCAA Division I. His teams have made eight NCAA tournament appearances and won two national championships, and his squads have recorded 30 winning seasons in his 34 years of coaching.
James Madison leads the all-time series 4-2, including three wins at home. Last season in Morgantown, WVU defeated the highly offensive Dukes 1-0. Junior forward Peabo Doue scored the lone goal of the match in the 18th minute to give the Mountaineers the victory.
