2011 CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKETMORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Games times for the 2011 BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship, hosted by West Virginia University at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, have been set.
Two semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 4, will kickoff at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively, and the championship game will begin at noon on Sunday, Nov. 6. All three of the matches will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network. In addition, the championship match will be produced by BIG EAST TV and will be available on numerous regional sports networks including SNY in the metro New York area. Sunday’s title match also will be streamed live online for free at BIGEAST.TV.
Ten teams qualify for the BIG EAST Championship, which takes place on campus sites during first round and quarterfinal play. The champion receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Ticket prices are $5 for adults (19 & older) and $3 for youth (18 & younger). All BIG EAST students can attend for free with a valid student ID. Groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets in advance for $2 through the Mountaineer Ticket Office. Tickets will go on sale Oct. 25.
The Mountaineers have qualified for the BIG EAST tournament in 11 straight years, a feat only Connecticut and Rutgers have equaled. West Virginia has advanced to the semifinal round in six consecutive seasons.
WVU previously played host to the 2007 championship, a year in which the Mountaineers won their first BIG EAST tournament title. Midfielder Lisa DuCote converted the final penalty kick in West Virginia’s 5-3 shootout win over Notre Dame.
