MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Seven members of the West Virginia University swimming team will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships from Aug. 2-6, at the Stanford University Avery Aquatic Center.
Senior Brad Eichenseer, junior Jake Querciagrossa and sophomores Tim Squires and Peter Murto will represent the men’s side, while juniors Rachael Burnett and Breanna McCann and sophomore Danielle Smith will represent the women.
Eichenseer and Squires will each swim in the 50 free and 100 free, while Querciagrossa will swim in the 400 IM. The trio, along with Murto will compete in both the 400 free relay and the 400 medley relay.
The women’s 100 back and 200 back will feature Smith, while Burnett will swim in the 200 free, 400 free, 400 IM and 800 free. McCann will round out the women’s participants in the 200 IM and 200 breast.
Olympic gold medalists Jason Lezak, Ryan Lochte and Peter Vanderkaay lead a field of U.S. National Team members that includes Ariana Kukors, Katie Hoff, Dagny Knutson, Missy Franklin and more. The championships also serve as the selection meet for the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru.
Competition will be shown on NBC on Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. and Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. A live webcast is available on USASwimming.com as well.
