Greetings From Italy

Salve! (Hello! in Italian) After three full days in France, today the West Virginia women’s basketball team entered Italy for the first time.
Each day is packed with so many things to do. After defeating the AMW All-Stars on Wednesday, the Mountaineers experienced the Eiffel Tower and returned to the hotel for some much needed rest before a 5 a.m. wake up call. The team traveled by train for roughly six hours from Paris to Nice, France, arriving at 1:30 p.m., Thursday. The train allowed everyone to see the country side and the Mediterranean sea side. Once checked in at the hotel, there was free time to explore Nice and many went to check out the beach, which unlike most American beaches, it was pebbles and not sand. The Mountaineers had a nice team dinner outside downtown Nice to close out the day.
This morning everyone was up early again as the bus departed the hotel by 9 a.m. for a journey to Como, Italy. Along the way, the team stopped at the Fragonard Parumeur, where everyone went on a tour to learn about the process of making perfume. The next stop was in Monaco, where the first casino was created in the Monte Carlo. The country of Monaco is considered to be the smallest country in the world, even smaller than Central Park in New York City. However, there is high security and a lot of money.
The bus departed Monaco in the mid-afternoon and did not arrive into Como, Italy until 8 p.m. It was time to check in, get some dinner and then to bed. The food in Italy is delicious and the way of life is very different as the service is very relaxed.
Tomorrow, the WVU women’s basketball team will take a lake tour of Caddenabia and a ferry over to Bellagio, before arriving back in Como for one more night.
Grazie and buonanotte from Italy—which means thank you and good night from Italy.
