Rowing: Viglianco Named All-America

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior rower Rachel Viglianco was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women’s at-Large Second Team today, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The All-America honor is her second this year as she was named a National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American.
A native of St. Albans, W.Va., Viglianco was a mainstay on the Mountaineers’ Varsity 8+ boat, which won a gold medal at the Head of Ohio, a bronze medal at the Occoquan Sprints, a fifth-place finish in the Grand Finals at the Knecht Cub Regatta and two top-10 finishes at the Head of Schuykill and Head of the Occoquan in the fall.
Viglianco carried a 4.0 grade point average throughout her four-year career, graduating with a degree in secondary English education. She was named a national scholar-athlete by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons and was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Viglianco joins three other WVU student-athletes in earning CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as women’s basketball player Liz Repella and rifle members Nicco Campriani and Andy Lamson have also earned the honor.
