MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rifle coach Jon Hammond announced today that Amy Bock, Meelis Kiisk and Matt Martin have signed national letters of intent to compete at WVU this fall.
“I’m really excited about our new recruits joining the team,” Hammond, on the cusp of his sixth season with the Mountaineers, says. “They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a lot of talent and potential to the program. We will be a young team next year, but all three can have an immediate impact. I’m excited to see them all on campus in the fall.”
Bock, an East Brunswick, N.J., native, is an accomplished member of the Puerto Rico National Team and recently competed at the International Shooting Sport Federation Fort Benning World Cup. Bock also competed in Guatemala, Mexico, with the National Team and won the women’s 50m rifle 3 position. A national Junior Olympics qualifier, she won the 2011 New Jersey Junior Olympic State Championships in smallbore with a score of 577. Bock also won the air rifle silver medal with a score of 384.
Kiisk, a native of Paide, Estonia, is a member of the Estonian National Team and was named the 2009 Best Youth Shooter by the Estonian Shooting Sport Federation. A three-time Estonian air rifle champion, Kiisk set the Estonian 3x40 junior record in 2010 with a score of 1160. He finished in sixth place at the 2009 European prone junior championships and won the 2007 Estonian air rifle championships with a final score of 686.6. Kiisk owns personal bests of 597 in prone and 589 in air rifle; his prone score is an Estonian junior record.
Martin, an Eagle River, Alaska, native, is a member of the US National Development Team and the 2010 Junior Olympics champion in 3 position air rifle. A multiple National Junior Olympics qualifier, he won the 2011 Alaska Junior Olympic State Championships in smallbore and air rifle. Martin also placed third in the junior men’s 10m air rifle J2 category at the 2009 Rifle National Junior Olympic Championships. He competed at the 2009 Navy Junior ROTC (NJROTC) Service Championship and was a three-time team captain of his NJROTC and 4-H teams.
