Rifle: Munich World Cup Review

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Rising West Virginia University junior Petra Zublasing scored two top-12 finishes at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Munich World Cup, which ended yesterday, at the 1972 Olympic Shooting Range, in Munich.
The Appiano, Italy, native finished 10th in the women’s 10m air rifle and 12th in the women’s 50m rifle 3 position.
Competing for the Italian National Team, Zublasing, a National Rifle Association air rifle first team All-American, shot 398 (99-100-99-100) air rifle. Her top-10 finish comes on the heels of her Bronze medal win at the Fort Benning World Cup in May, which secured Zublasing an Olympic quota for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Zublasing also shot 584 (197 prone, 192 standing, 195 kneeling) in the 3 position competition.
Mountaineer coach Jon Hammond, shooting for Great Britain, finished 13th in the men’s 50m rifle prone with a final score of 597 (100-100-100-100-99-98), an improvement on his 30th-place finish at the ISSF Fort Benning World Cup with a score of 593. He also shot 1160 (399 prone, 372 standing, 389 kneeling) in the men’s 50m rifle 3 position competition.
Additionally, former Mountaineer Bryant Wallizer, shooting for the United States, finished 29th in the men’s 10m air rifle with a score of 594 (100-98-99-100-99-98).
Next up on the world cup slate is the ISSF World Cup Final, to be held Sept. 18-24, in Wroclaw, Poland.
