MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia women’s basketball program will take part in a European tour this summer, traveling to France and Italy, August 8-18, 2011.
The NCAA allows programs to travel overseas as a part of an international tour every four years. In 2007, the Mountaineers went to Australia and participated in a five-game exhibition tour.
This year’s exhibition tour will cover Paris, South of France, Monte Carlo, Lake Como, Florence, Rome, Ancient Rome and Holy Rome. The Mountaineers will play a total of three games as part of the European tour with the first game against a French club and the final two against Italian Lega clubs.
In addition to the games, the trip offers an opportunity to learn about the culture and history of the area through Anthony Travel, Inc.
