HOGAN PICKED IN 4TH ROUND
April 30, 2011 12:36 PM | General
It didn't take cornerback Brandon Hogan too long on Saturday to figure out where he was going to be playing football next season, if there is a next season in the NFL.
Hogan was the first player selected in the fourth round (98th overall) of the NFL draft on Saturday afternoon by the Carolina Panthers. He is the fifth Mountaineer player taken in the top 100 since 2003 and the highest defensive player drafted since Adam Jones was the sixth overall pick in 2005.
The Manassas, Va. resident was a three-year starter for the Mountaineers who earned second team all-Big East honors in 2010, finishing fourth in the conference in pass breakups and seventh in interceptions. As a senior, he was a major contributor to a defense that finished ranked No. 2 in the country against the run and third in points allowed.
The NFL draft will conclude once the seventh round is completed later today.
