Track: Day One of Colonial Relays

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed day one of the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary, with several top finishes despite average weather conditions.
“As we continue to tell the girls – run, jump and throw to the best of your ability, despite what Mother Nature throws at us,” coach Sean Cleary says. “When we get nice weather, we will fly.”
Senior April Rotilio led in the running events with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash. The Bellaire, Ohio, native posted a time of 53.96 to take the top spot.
In the 800-meter run, WVU saw top performances from seniors Keri Bland and Kaylyn Christopher as the duo finished in sixth and eighth, respectively. Both posted BIG EAST qualifying times as Bland finished strong with a time of 2:09.70, while Christopher ran an aggressive time of 2:10.88.
Chené Townsend continued to improve this afternoon, posting her second-fastest time of the season in the 100-meter hurdles. Townsend finished with a time of 14.16 to also move on to the finals on Saturday.
Junior Terina Miller led in the field events with a fourth-place showing in the hammer throw (48.14 meters), while sophomores Heather Adams and Alanna Pritts followed in 12th (42.19 meters) and 18th (37.51 meters), respectively.
Action continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
