Track: Carrier Named Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Chelsea Carrier has been named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week for the first week of the outdoor season, the conference office announced today.
Carrier earned the honor for her efforts at the Stanford Invitational last weekend, where she won the 100-meter hurdles. The Buckhannon, W.Va., native narrowly missed a school record after crossing the finish line in 13.27. The current school record is 13.20, set by Pat Itanyi in 1996.
The time ranks seventh in the nation and placed her first of the 46 competitors.
The Mountaineers continue action this weekend with a trip to the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary on April 1-2.
