MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore Jared Goldthorpe of the West Virginia men’s swimming team will compete this weekend in the 2011 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships from March 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
The meet will be held at the University Aquatic Center, with prelims beginning at noon and finals beginning at 7 p.m., each day.
“Jared showed some great determination in making the men’s NCAA meet. Coming out of the BIG EAST Championships he knew he had a better 200 back in him,” coach Vic Riggs said. “Having made the meet, he has a chance to go and compete against the best in our sport, which will only help him continue his progression towards his goals.”
Goldthorpe, a native of New South Wales, Australia, will swim in the 500 free and 200 back. The 500 free will be on the first day of competition, with Goldthorpe being in the first of six heats with a seed time of 4:23.42. Goldthorpe will then wait until the final day of competition to swim the 200 back, where he is seeded 13th with a time of 1:43.17.
