Baseball: Promotional Slate Revealed

PROMOTION SCHEDULE
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - As BIG EAST play nears for the West Virginia baseball team, WVU officials have revealed several promotional days slated for this year’s home schedule.
"We're excited about our promotional schedule this year and think it will be a great one for our fans as we get into BIG EAST play," coach Greg Van Zant says. "Our ‘Dollar Day’ promotions are always a fan favorite and really provide families a chance to enjoy WVU baseball games at an affordable price."
Five games have been selected as “Dollar Days/Nights,” with all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas available for purchase for just one dollar each. The included games are: Tuesday, April 5, against ACC foe Maryland at 6 p.m.; Saturday, April 9, against Georgetown at 3 p.m.; Thursday, April 21, against Seton Hall at 7:05 p.m.; Saturday, May 7, versus Cincinnati at 2 p.m., and Friday, May 20, versus Rutgers at 7:05 p.m.
WVU’s Tuesday night contest against Maryland is also a “GOLD RUSH,” and all fans are encouraged to wear gold and pack Hawley Field for the game. The WVU-Georgetown series is a part of Mountaineer Parents Club Weekend and WVU Baseball Alumni Weekend, and several former players will be in attendance for the games.
Youth league players attending WVU’s April 23 game against Seton Hall will receive a free baseball courtesy of Through With Chew.
Additionally, WVU’s home finale on May 21, is Senior Day.
The team will hold postgame camps following games on Sunday, April 10, and Sunday, May 8. The camps will involve instruction from the coaching staff and players.
The Mountaineers travel to Charleston, W.Va., for the third consecutive season as part of the Mountaineer Diamond Classic and face Morehead State on Tuesday, March 29, at 6 p.m., at Appalachian Power Park. Last year, 1,289 fans watched WVU defeat Eastern Kentucky, 13-11. The Mountaineers defeated Kentucky, 10-7, before a crowd of 2,452 fans in 2009.
Also, fans can pick a free 2011 WVU baseball schedule poster featuring coach Van Zant and players Justin McDavid, Dan DiBartolomeo, Colin Durborow and Jeremy Gum at any home game this season.
WVU opens its BIG EAST slate with a three-game series at USF on March 25-27. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m.
