Men's Basketball: WVU 22nd in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s basketball team is ranked 22nd in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll, which represents the final poll the writers will conduct this season.
It is the 14th time in school history the Mountaineers have finished the year ranked in the AP poll and the second under Bob Huggins; WVU finished sixth in last year’s AP poll.
West Virginia (20-11) is one of seven Big East teams in the final AP poll, joining No. 4 Pitt, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 9 Connecticut, No. 12 Syracuse, No. 14 Louisville and No. 18 St. John’s in the rankings.
West Virginia is two spots outside the ESPN/USA Today coaches’ Top 25 at No. 27. The coaches will vote one final time following the NCAA tournament.

The Mountaineers will face either Alabama-Birmingham or Clemson Thursday in Tampa, Fla., in the NCAA tournament at the St. Pete Times Forum. Tipoff is set for 12:15 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on CBS.
