Gymnastics: WVU Vault Ranked No. 21

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia gymnastics team is ranked No. 21 on vault in this week’s GymInfo Poll.
The Mountaineers (9-7, 6-1 EAGL) pushed their streak of Top 25 rankings to 10 weeks despite dropping three spots with a 49.01 regional qualifying score (RQS).
WVU sits just outside the floor and team rankings at No. 26 (48.945) and No. 28 (194.55), respectively.
Freshman Hope Sloanhoffer is nationally ranked on three events. The Cornwall, N.Y., native ranks No. 21 on beam (9.855), No. 41 on floor (9.85) and No. 45 on vault (9.85).
Senior Amy Bieski ranks No. 33 in the all-around (39.075).
Regionally, the Mountaineers remain steady at No. 4 overall. The squad continues to rank No. 3 on vault and No. 5 on beam (48.53) and dropped to No. 4 on floor and No. 5 on bars (48.695).
Bieski ranks on all five events and boasts Top 10 rankings in the all-around and on vault (9.84) and floor (9.84). She also ranks No. 14 on bars (9.78) and No. 19 on beam (9.745).
Sloanhoffer precedes Bieski on beam, vault and floor and ranks No. 5, No. 7 and No. 7, respectively.
Sophomore Kaylyn Millick is the third Mountaineer to own at least three regional rankings. The Washington, Pa., native ranks No. 17 on beam (9.76), No. 21 on floor (9.795) and No. 25 on bars (9.725).
The Mountaineers are most frequently ranked on vault. Junior Tina Maloney checks in at No. 13 (9.83), while sophomores Alaska Richardson and Chelsea Goldschrafe rank No. 19 (9.79) and No. 21 (9.78), respectively.
Goldschrafe also ranks No. 23 on beam (9.74), while junior Nicole Roach rounds out the WVU bars rankings and is slotted at No. 17 (9.76).
WVU continues to rank No. 2 overall in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL). The team also ranks No. 1 on vault, No. 2 on floor and No. 4 on bars and beam.
Individually, Sloanhoffer ranks No. 1 on vault for the eighth consecutive week. She also ranks No. 2 on beam and No. 4 on floor.
Bieski owns four league rankings and checks in at No. 2 in the all-around, No. 3 on vault, No. 6 on floor and No. 8 on bars.
Maloney and Millick rank No. 7 on vault and No. 8 on beam, respectively.
The Mountaineers closed out their regular season with a 195.825-195.025 loss to No. 10 Penn State on March 12 at the WVU Coliseum. Bieski scored 39.0 and finished fourth overall and second on vault and floor with scores of 9.875 and 9.825, respectively. Maloney tied Bieski on floor with a season-best score. Sloanhoffer tallied 9.8 marks on beam and floor and finished tied for third place on beam, while Kerwin matched her career-best bars score of 9.825 and finished in third place.
WVU travels to Washington, D.C., this weekend and competes for its seventh league crown at the 2011 EAGL Championship on March 19, at 2 p.m. George Washington plays host to the meet at the Charles E. Smith Center.
