Diving: Divers Travel to Zone Meet

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University diving team is sending two representatives to this year’s NCAA Zone “A” Diving Championships in Annapolis, Md., from March 11-13. Junior Matt O’Neill will be competing for the second year in a row, while freshman Richard Pokorny will be making his first trip.
The zone meet is the second step required to compete in the 2011 NCAA Diving Championships hosted by Minnesota later this month. O’Neill and Pokorny will compete with 45 student-athletes in the 1-meter diving event on Friday, while they will have 43 other rivals during the 3-meter diving event on Saturday.
Friday’s prelims will begin at 1 p.m., with finals starting at 3:30 p.m., while Saturday starts prelims at noon and finals at 2:30 p.m.
There are five different zones in the NCAA and 66 schools in Zone “A.” Results will be posted on www.divemeets.com.
