MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After a four-week absence and on the heels of two consecutive season-high scores, the West Virginia gymnastics team re-enters the GymInfo Poll at No. 24 today.
The Mountaineers (8-5, 5-1), last ranked No. 18 on Jan. 17, earned their third national ranking of the season on the strength of their 194.44 regional qualifying score (RQS).
This week’s poll is the first of the season based on RQS. Qualification for regional competition is based on a team’s and an all-around competitor’s six best regular-season meet scores, of which three must be from away meets. To obtain an RQS, the high score is eliminated and the remaining five scores are averaged.
