Women's Track: Carrier Sweeps Meet

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Just a week away from the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, senior Chelsea Carrier led the WVU track and field team today after posting two first-place finishes and a lifetime best performance at the Gold/Blue Meet held at the WVU Shell Building.
The Buckhannon, W.Va., native took first place in the 60-meter dash(7.61) and the high jump (1.64 meters), while finishing second in the shot put after throwing a personal-best 11.48 meters.
Sophomore Aubrey Moskal also had a great afternoon, taking first place in the mile with a BIG EAST qualifying and personal-best time of 4:59.24, while Kate Harrison followed in second (5:00.57), Jordan Hamric finished third (5:19.10) and Chelsea Jarvis placed fifth (5:29.86).
Junior Jessica O’Connell had a great showing in the 3,000-meter race, finishing with a time of 9:51.84, while Allison Pettit and Lauren
Moskel finished in first (2:24.27) and third (2:25.64), respectively, in the 800-meter run.
In the 200-meter dash, Chene Townsend finished with one of her fastest times, taking first place with a time of 25.77, while freshman Shakiyla Cosby followed in second (26.59).
Junior Brittany Wolford and freshman Allison Tyree led the 400-meter dash, as Wolford placed first (1:00.29) and Tyree finished in second (1:02.29).
In the pole vault, freshman Kimberly Mulvin placed first (3.20 meters), while freshman Gabrielle Harrington finished second (3.05 meters).
Junior Terina Miller took the top spot in the weight throw (14.79 meters), while Brittany Thomas placed second (13.99 meters) and Alanna Pritts finished in third (13.03 meters).
The Mountaineers will return to action this weekend with the BIG EAST Championships on Feb. 19-20, at the Stile Athletics Field House in Akron, Ohio.
