Women's Soccer: Soccer America Honors Two

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia women’s soccer players Sara Keane and Kate Schwindel were named to Soccer America’s 2011 all-Freshman second team today.
Keane, a Mt. Laurel, N.J., native, was outstanding in goal as a redshirt freshman. She posted a 17-5-0 record in her first season to go along with nine shutouts. Keane started all 22 matches while making 80 saves on the season with a 0.91 goals-against average. She earned second team all-BIG EAST honors and was a member of the BIG EAST all-Rookie team.
Schwindel, a Livingston, N.J., native, put together a stellar rookie season with the Mountaineers. She was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year after leading all conference rookies in points with 15 in 11 matches. Schwindel, a second team all-BIG EAST pick, finished with 19 points on six goals and seven assists. Her 19 points tie for third-most by a freshman in school history.
West Virginia finished the season ranked ninth in the country after winning BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles. The Mountaineers also advanced to the NCAA tournament for a 12th consecutive season.
