MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins has announced the signing of Terry Henderson to a national letter of intent for the 2012-13 academic year.
Henderson, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard, is currently in his senior year at Neuse Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., playing for coach Ken Adrian. Last season, Henderson averaged 22 points, six rebounds and shot 47 percent from behind the arc. He started playing on Neuse’s varsity team in eighth grade and has already scored more than 2,000 points.
Henderson has led the Lions to three North Carolina Christian School Association 3A state championships. He is ranked as the 30th-best shooting guard by ESPNU, rated the 30th-best shooting guard by Scout.com and is a Rivals 3 star. Henderson played AAU basketball for Garner Road.
“Terry will bring much needed perimeter shooting to our squad and will continue to increase our athleticism at the same time,” says Huggins. “Terry is an outstanding student, and we believe his upside is tremendous.”
Henderson is the third recruit to sign with WVU for the 2012-13 academic year. Eron Harris, a 6-foot-4 guard from Indianapolis, and Elijah Macon, a 6-foot-9 forward from Columbus, Ohio, signed with the Mountaineers last week.
