Men's Soccer: Duo Earns BIG EAST Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Eric Schoenle of the West Virginia men’s soccer team has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while junior Pat Eavenson was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts in a pair of 2-0 shutout wins last week at Seton Hall and Notre Dame.
Schoenle anchored a back line that allowed just six shots on-goal, while also winning the header off a corner kick that led to the game-winning goal against the Irish. Notre Dame took just 10 shots, while Seton Hall only had eight.
Eavenson earned two shutouts, facing a total of 17 combined shots. Eavenson made five saves at Notre Dame, while making one save at Seton Hall.
The Mountaineers return to action at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3:30 p.m., in a BIG EAST Quarterfinal match against the winner of St. John’s/Georgetown.
