Women's Soccer: WVU Ranked No. 22

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team checks in at No. 22 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25 and is receiving votes in today’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.
WVU went 1-1-0 last weekend in a pair of BIG EAST road matches. Freshman forward Kate Schwindel scored the fastest goal in school history in WVU’s win at Georgetown, notching a goal only 55 seconds into the match. Junior defender Bry McCarthy recorded the second multi-assist match of her career with two helpers against the Hoyas.
West Virginia boasts an overall record of 9-4-0 on the season, including a 5-1-0 mark in league play. The Mountaineers are tied for first place in the BIG EAST American Division with No. 9 Marquette.
The Mountaineers return to action against St. John’s on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. in a match presented by EZToUse.com. The first 200 fans in attendance get a free WVU wristband, courtesy of EZToUse.com. WVU closes out its home schedule against Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
