MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Thanks in part to two victories last week and some outside help, the No. 18 West Virginia men’s soccer team received a No. 2 seed in the Blue Division and a first round bye in the 2011 BIG EAST Championship.
WVU will host a quarterfinal match against an opponent to be determined on Sunday, Nov. 6, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium following the women’s championship match. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 p.m.
The field has not been completely set yet as Notre Dame and Seton Hall will play a make-up game on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at noon. If Notre Dame wins that game, WVU will face the winner of the St. John’s/Georgetown game. If the Irish fall in the match, the Mountaineers will take on the winner of St. John’s/Notre Dame.
West Virginia finished the regular season 10-6-1, including a 6-3-0 mark in BIG EAST play. WVU currently has a two game winning streak and has won six of its last eight matches.
