Track: WVU to Host State Farm Games

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team is set to play host to the WVU State Farm Games on Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Shell Building.
The meet will begin at 11 a.m., with the field events and will include competition from Alderson Broaddus, California Pa., Elon, Hood, Juniata and Waynesburg.
The Mountaineers are coming off a good showing at the Doug Raymond Invitational last weekend, where freshman Kaitlyn Gillespie captured first-place in the 1,000-meter race with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 2:54.16.
Sophomore Sydney Cummings also competed well with a first-place showing in the high jump (1.70 meters), while freshman Katlyn Shelar finished first in the pole vault (3.35 meters).
Senior Chelsea Carrier and the WVU 4x400-meter relay team of Shakiyla Cosby, Jordann Mitchell, Brittany Wolford and Carrier rounded out the Mountaineers’ top finishes, as Carrier took first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.42) and the relay team finished first with a time of 3:51.
