MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University forward Kevin Noreen underwent surgery this morning on his right knee to heal a ruptured prepatellar bursa. He will be sidelined for the remainder of the season and WVU will apply for a medical hardship waiver.
"Kevin Noreen has a cyst on his knee that really needs to get removed because it’s really irritating his knee and it just seemed like the right time to do it," said West Virginia coach Bob Huggins. "It continues to irritate him, and is a constant sense of irritation on his knee."
Noreen, a freshman from Minneapolis, Minn., appeared in seven games this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He had a season-high seven points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of action against VMI.
