MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia and Maryland renew football hostilities Saturday afternoon in a noon game at Milan Puskar Stadium televised nationally on ESPNU (Rod Stone and Dave Pollack).
Maryland brings a 2-0 record to Morgantown after early season wins over Navy and Morgan State. No. 21 West Virginia is also 2-0 with wins over Coastal Carolina and Marshall. Saturday’s game will be the 47th time these two border rivals have faced each other on the gridiron.
MSN’s (Tony Caridi, Dwight Wallace, Jed Drenning and Hoppy Kercheval) pregame coverage begins at 11 a.m. with The Mountaineers Today. The MSN radio broadcast can be heard on Sirius channel 121 and XM 141 on the Best of Sirius.

10 – West Virginia ranks TENTH nationally in punting this week averaging 45 yards per punt.
9 – Jock Sanders is now tied with Boston College’s Grant Adams for NINTH place on the Big East’s list for consecutive games with at least on catch with 30.
8 – West Virginia has won EIGHT in a row at Milan Puskar Stadium dating back to 2008. The Mountaineers also have a 14-game non-conference home winning streak.
7 – The Mountaineers’ 66 victories over the last SEVEN years ranks 12th in college football.
6 – West Virginia has scored SIX touchdowns in the red zone this year and has an overall scoring success rate of 83.3 percent. WVU’s two red zone failures were the result of a fumble out of the end zone and a blocked field goal attempt.
5 – Noel Devine ranks FIFTH among all-time rushers at West Virginia with 3,604 yards heading into Saturday’s game against Maryland, Devine needs 320 more yards to pass Steve Slaton and move into the fourth spot. Slaton had 3,923 yards from 2005-07.
4 – West Virginia has won the last FOUR games played against Maryland since the series was interrupted for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Maryland’s last victory against West Virginia came in 2003.
3 – THREE of West Virginia’s four 300-yard passing performances under offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen have resulted in Mountaineer victories, including Geno Smith’s 316-yard passing effort last Friday night against Marshall.
2 – Sophomore quarterback Geno Smith led West Virginia to TWO length-of-the-field drives with 8:28 remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the Thundering Herd in regulation. West Virginia won the game in overtime 24-21.
1 – Thirty Mountaineers players have logged at least ONE career start with senior Scooter Berry tops on the list with 30 career starts.
