Swimming: Squires Featured in Sports Illustrated

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men’s swimmer Tim Squires was featured in the Aug. 23 issue of Sports Illustrated as one of six athletes in the magazine’s “Faces in the Crowd” section.
A freshman from Buckhannon, W.Va., Squires recently won both the 50 free and 100 free at the 2010 YMCA Long Course Nationals. Squires time of 23.15 in the 50 free was also a new national record.
At Buckhannon-Upshur High, Squire won the 100 free in his final three years and the 50 free in his final two. As a senior, Squires set state meet records in both events and anchored the winning 200 free relay.
The WVU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams open up competition against Penn State on Oct. 16 in the WVU Natatorium.
