MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s soccer team opens preseason camp Wednesday morning, Aug. 4, at the WVU women’s soccer practice field.
“The team is very eager to get back on the field together after a long summer break and strong spring season,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “Each day of workouts are valuable and we have a lot to accomplish in a short amount of time. We are looking forward to a productive preseason camp as our first exhibition match is one week away.”
The Mountaineers begin camp with on-field training twice a day, strength and conditioning workouts and individual and team meetings. West Virginia will continue its preparation leading up to the regular season home opener against Penn State on Friday, Aug. 20.
WVU will take part in two exhibition contests this fall. The Mountaineers will play a home match on Aug. 10 versus Indiana and travel to Wake Forest on Aug. 14.
The Mountaineers return eight starters and 13 letterwinners from last season’s squad that advanced to the NCAA second round. Izzo-Brown begins her 15th season in charge of the Mountaineers and has led her teams to 10 straight NCAA tournament appearances.
