MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s soccer team will play its final exhibition match of the preseason on Wednesday, Aug. 25, against Robert Morris at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Admission is free and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers traveled to Michigan for their first exhibition and left with a scoreless draw. West Virginia, however, out-shot and took more corner kicks than the Wolverines.
West Virginia is returning 15 letterwinners, including midfielder Ray Gaddis, who is on the watch list for the Hermann Trophy and goalkeeper Zach Johnson, a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. Coach Marlon LeBlanc enters his fifth season with the Mountaineers.
Robert Morris will be playing their first exhibition of the season. The Colonials are looking to improve and build upon the 3-13-3 record they posted last season. Bill Denniston heads into his 10th season at the helm of the men's soccer program and holds a record of 62-83-27 overall while in charge of the Colonials.
The regular season opens up with the Save Face WVU Classic presented by Jersey’s Subs with the Mountaineers taking on No. 9 Monmouth on Sept. 3 and No. 17 UNC Wilmington on Sept. 5.
