Women's Soccer: Promotional Schedule Revealed

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - With the season opener against Penn State rapidly approaching, West Virginia officials are planning several promotional days this fall for the Mountaineer women’s soccer season.
West Virginia’s match with the Nittany Lions is “Poster Night.” Fans attending the home opener on Friday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m., can pick up a free 2010 WVU women’s soccer schedule poster featuring Kerri Butler, Cassandra Deitrick, Kristen Felice, Erica Henderson, Meghan Lewis and Blake Miller.
The season opener with Penn State is also one of three matches designated as “Dollar Days” with all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas available for purchase for just one dollar. The following games are also scheduled as “Dollar Days” – Sept. 19 vs. Virginia, 1 p.m.; Oct. 15 vs. Villanova, 7 p.m.
The Virginia contest is also Alumni Weekend, honoring former Mountaineers who have donned the Old Gold and Blue, and will be the celebration of US Youth Soccer Month.
Sunday, Oct. 17 is Breast Cancer Awareness Day when the Mountaineers take on BIG EAST foe Georgetown at 1 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink as the WVU coaching staff makes a check presentation to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Breast cancer awareness magnets will also be given out at the match.
Fans can pick up a free WVU t-shirt courtesy of EZToUse.com at the Friday, Oct. 22 Connecticut match.
WVU’s final home match on Sunday, Oct. 24 against Providence will serve as “Senior Day” for six Mountaineers – Butler, Deitrick, Felice, Ashtin Larkin, Sydney Metheny and Megan Mischler.
The Mountaineers return eight starters and 13 letterwinners from last season’s squad that advanced to the NCAA second round. Izzo-Brown begins her 15th season in charge of the Mountaineers and has led her teams to 10 straight NCAA tournament appearances.
