MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team will play host to Duquesne in its last home match of the season on Thursday, April 8, at 11 a.m.
The Mountaineers are now 13-5 in the regular season and 4-1 in the BIG EAST after dropping two matches last weekend to Chicago State (2-5) and BIG EAST foe DePaul (1-6).
“We are looking to rebound after last weekend’s matches,” says coach Marc Walters. “DU is always a tough match for us, so we will need our leaders to step up.”
The Mountaineers fell 3-4 in last year’s meeting with the Dukes, which was their first loss to them since the series began in 1978. WVU’s owns a 23-1 advantage in the all-time series record.
“The top three girls in our lineup will give us a chance to get into the match if they battle deep and keep Duquesne’s lower girls from gaining momentum,” adds Walters.
The match will be held outdoors on the WVU tennis courts and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, in which it will be held indoors at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
