Gymnastics: Floor Lineup Ranked No. 25

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team’s floor lineup is ranked No. 25 in this week’s GymInfo Poll.
The lineup boasts a 48.81 regional qualifying score (RQS) and is the only Mountaineer sextet to reside in the national top 25 all season.
Junior Amy Bieski also earned national recognition this week with the No. 43 all-around ranking (38.915 RQS).
WVU’s (12-7, 6-0 EAGL) 194.34 RQS ranks fourth in the southeast region. The team maintained each of its apparatus rankings from one week ago and is third on beam (48.395) and floor and fourth on vault (48.74) and bars (48.55).
Bieski is regionally ranked in each event this week. The Nanticoke, Pa., native is third in the all-around, ninth on floor (9.815), 14th on bars (9.77) and 16th on vault (9.79) and beam (9.725). She paces WVU in each apparatus but vault.
Senior Chelsi Tabor leads the vaulting corps with a 9.83 RQS, the region’s seventh-best mark. The Beckley, W.Va., native is also ranked 17th on beam (9.715).
Sophomores Tina Maloney and Nicole Roach also own two regional rankings. Maloney is 12th (9.795) on floor and 25th (9.73) on vault, while Roach is 15th on bars (9.76) and 21st (9.655) on beam.
Freshman Alaska Richardson checks in just before Maloney on the vault rankings (No. 23, 9.735), while juniors Alysha Pretzello (No. 21, 9.695) and Faye Meaden (No. 23, 9.685) follow Roach on the bars list. Additionally, senior Kiersten Spoerke ranks 22nd (9.725) on floor, and freshman Chelsea Goldschrafe ranks 24th (9.62) on beam.
The Mountaineers dropped to No. 2 on floor in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL), but retained their No. 1 beam ranking. The team also maintained pace at No. 2 overall and at No. 3 on vault and bars.
Tabor is tops among all league vaulters and also ranks ninth on beam.
Bieski ranks second in all-around, fourth on bars, fifth on floor, eighth on beam and ninth on vault.
Roach and Maloney also earned EAGL top 10 rankings this week. Roach is fifth on bars, while Maloney is seventh on floor.
The Mountaineers are coming off of a sound 194.725-191.55 home victory over Bowling Green on March 6. Bieski and Tabor stole the spotlight in the win, as Bieski finished first overall with 39.1 points and Tabor stuck a near-perfect vault and finished first with a career-best 9.95 score.
WVU closes out its regular season road schedule at EAGL-foe North Carolina on Saturday, March 13, at 1 p.m.
