MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University junior women’s basketball guard Liz Repella has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) all-District II first team, announced today.
A native of Steubenville, Ohio, Repella boasts a 3.95 GPA in exercise physiology and leads the No. 8/11 Mountaineers (20-3, 7-2) in scoring (14.3 ppg), which is currently good for ninth in the BIG EAST. She has reached double figures in scoring in 19 contests this year, including a season-high 24 at Notre Dame, with five 20-point efforts.
“It’s nice to be recognized for all the hard work and efforts I put into my academic career,” says Repella. ”I take my studies very seriously and I’m honored to be part of this prestigious group.”
This is the second straight year Repella has been named to the academic all-District II first team. A multiple WVU Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll, dean’s list and BIG EAST Academic All-Star recipient, Repella was named to the 2009-10 preseason all-BIG EAST team, after earning all-conference second team honors last year, and garnered the conference’s 2009 Scholar Athlete Sport Excellent Award for women’s basketball.
She is joined by Lori Bjork (Maryland), Trisha Krewson (Bucknell), Joyce Novacek (Bucknell) and Morgan Robertson (La Salle) on the CoSIDA all-District II first team.
Repella is now a candidate for national Academic All-America honors which will be announced later this month.
