Women's Basketball: Ali Earns BIG EAST Honor

Morgantown, W.Va. – Senior Madina Ali has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this week, the second time this season, as announced by the conference office today.
Ali is an all-around threat as she leads the BIG EAST in shooting with a 66.7 field-goal percentage and holds the third-highest offensive rebounding average (3.9). She leads the Mountaineers in both scoring and rebounding and averaged 16.5 points per game last week on 12-of-19 (63.2%) shooting.
The forward recorded her third double-double this season over Elon as she led all players with a career-high 20 points on 60 percent shooting (6-10) and pulled down 10 rebounds in only 20 minutes. Two nights later Ali played 19 minutes and recorded 13 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting (66.7%). The Mountaineers held both opponents this week under 60 points as they put up 90 and 89 points.
The No. 10 West Virginia women’s basketball team will open BIG EAST competition, Thursday at 7 p.m., against Villanova in Villanova, Pa. The Mountaineers will then return home for a 2 p.m. tip with Prairie View A&M, Saturday.
