Rifle: Three Shoot at Winter Air Gun Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the No. 1-ranked West Virginia rifle team saw their first action in the 2010 USA Winter Air Gun Championship yesterday in Colorado Springs, Colo., and senior Nicco Campriani finished second overall in the men’s 10m air rifle competition with a final score of 699.0.
Campriani, a native of Florence, Italy, shot the top collegiate score of 596. The mark also was the highest relay score of the day. He shot 103.0 in the finals for his overall standing.
Freshman Thomas Kyanko also shot in the competition and finished 39th overall with a 578 score.
Also of note, Bryant Wallizer, a 2010 graduate and two-time first team National Rifle Association All-American at WVU, finished third overall with a final score of 697.6. Wallizer shot 596 in the open relay and 101.6 in the finals.
Sophomore Petra Zublasing shot in the women’s 10m air rifle completion and finished with the top collegiate mark of 393.
All three Mountaineers are shooting unattached at this weekend's championship.
Competition continues today, with the third and final round scheduled for tomorrow.
