Volleyball: Kramer Adds First Recruit

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball coach Jill Kramer announces the signing of Evyn McCoy as her first recruit as head coach.
“Evyn will be the first addition that I have made here at WVU and the first player that I have ever recruited as a head coach,” Kramer says. “She is the type of person that we want here at West Virginia. She comes from a great family and has a great work ethic and competitive nature. Evyn is also a well rounded student-athlete who would like to enter the medical field one day.”
A 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Clare, Ill., McCoy has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Mountaineers for the 2011 season.
Adding depth in the middle after the graduation of middle blocker and 2009 all-BIG EAST selection Lauren Evans, McCoy joins WVU as a Northern Illinois BIG 12 first team all-conference and all-area player who aided her team to an IHSA State AAA Regional Championship in 2010.
In 2009, McCoy was tabbed honorable mention all-state and first team all-conference, as her team finished third in the state tournament.
Also a top player for Club Fusion, McCoy has served as team captain and was also named the PrepVolleyball.com Classic17’s tournament most valuable player.
“The coaches at Fusion will continue to foster and develop Evyn’s skill set throughout her senior year,” Kramer added. “It is always really helpful to know that our incoming players are in good hands and will continue to get the training they need before joining our squad.”
